If you’ve never done this before, you may be wondering what to expect.
A lot goes into producing a video from beginning to end. We will discuss your specific project needs with you to determine the scope of work. To provide a little bit of insight into the world of videography and editing…read on for a “case study”.

Say Fred would like to produce a video to post on his business’ social media page for advertising. Say Fred is aiming for the final video to be two minutes long.
Fred will need:
- A script
- Sufficient practice of said script
We’ll film in studio, or on location depending on Fred’s preference. The length of time it takes to capture the two minutes will not be two minutes. The actual length of time it takes to capture two minutes of useable footage will depend on Fred’s state of preparedness, how comfortable Fred is in front of the camera, and how fast Fred speaks (kidding!). It is expected that nerves will be a factor in Fred’s first shoot, which can extend the length of time spent filming. If Fred is prepared and confident or has done this before it’s entirely possible to film a two minute video in a half hour, or even twenty minutes. However, it’s totally likely that Fred will spend one or two hours on his first shoot.
Upon the conclusion of filming, work on the editing will begin. Preliminary edits include removing goofs and oopses, and anything else that Fred doesn’t want in his final video. Then the more in depth editing begins. What might Fred like to add?
- Titles/text
- Transitions
- Photos/images
- Logos
- Music
- Credits
- Lens flare?
During editing we will be in touch with Fred making sure we’ve got his vision down to an art and can execute it to best meet his wishes. Once we’ve reached a point at which we think the video is finished, we will send Fred a private link to his video where he can review it and get back to us with any changes he’d like made. The length of the editing process depends on the amount of add-ins Fred wants, how quickly he responds to questions and review requests, and the amount of changes he wants made. He can expect at least an hour or two to be spent on a two minute produced video.

Alright, so that’s Fred’s situation. Perhaps your ideas are different. Maybe you’d like your video to be thirty seconds, perhaps thirty minutes! Maybe you already have the video files and you’d like to send them to us for editing. Maybe you want to produce an online video course, so you’d like multiple videos. Maybe you simply want to capture Granny Edith’s eighty-fifth birthday party! Aspects of the process change depending on what you’d like, contact us and we’d be more than happy to discuss your project with you.
